Malachite:
(Green / hardness 3.5-4 / Source: Zaire & worldwide in small quantity)
Malachite is a copper carbonate hydroxide. The name is derived from Greek meaning “mallow-green stone”, in reference to the green leaves of the marrow plant. Archaeological evidence shows that Malachite has been mined and smelted for copper in Britain about 3800 years ago and in Israel about 3000 years ago. Since antiquity malachite has had numerous decorative uses; jewelry, inlay, art, and as a mineral pigment in green paints. It is a stone of transformation, assisting you in changing situations, helping in learning to take responsibility for your actions, feelings and thoughts. Brings up old feelings of hurt and resentment so you can deal with them and release them.
