Thunderbird
The Thunderbird represents protection, power, and strength. He is considered the strongest of the totem animals, possessing supernatural power and credited with creating storms. When he blinks, lighting comes out of his eyes, and when he flaps his wings, thunder roars. He hunts and eats whales by using the two lightning snakes kept under his wings.
Eagle
A symbol of power, prestige and wisdom. The Eagle is believed to have the greatest connection to the creator and sends messages from the people to the spiritual world. It is a symbol of peace and leadership, the sacred down represents friendship and its feathers are used for ceremonies and rituals.
Bambi Smith
Bambi Smith is a Coast Salish / Cowichan artist from Vancouver Island. She has always been interested in the art form of wood carving, growing up with many talented carvers surrounding her. She started carving under the watchful eye of well known artist Francis Horne and later studied under Elliot Jones for 15 years. Bambi is now interested in other mediums and is going back to school to learn jewellery engraving.
