The name Aquamarine, comes from Latin meaning “water of the sea”, and is a type of Beryl usually occurring in a variety of light blue to bluish green colors. It is said to embody a strong connection to the sea. Sailors of ancient Rome would use this stone as a talisman for safety, good luck and to prevent drowning. This stone invokes calmness, soothing energy and relaxation. It reduces stress, quietens the mind; stone of peace, joy and happiness, especially in relationships.
Apatite is made up of phosphate minerals, its name is derived from Greek meaning “to be misleading” as it is easily mistaken for other minerals. It is a stone which is said to bring insight and the expansion of knowledge to the wearer; clears mental confusion, negativity and frustrations, allowing you to find truth. This stone helps with communication, enhancing openness and social ease, while promoting a charitable attitude for the greater good.
The word ruby comes from the Latin word for “red”. It is one of the four cardinal gemstones, and has been sought after and worn by many ancient peoples. It was one of the main trading goods along the Silk Road in 200 BC, and used by royalty and nobles as ornamentation throughout the world.
People in India believed rubies allowed you to live in peace with your enemies, and made you invincible in battle. In medieval Europe it was believed that rubies brought wisdom, health, wealth, and love. These past traditions combine and the ruby is known today as a stone of protection, prosperity and passion. A “leadership” stone, it is thought to bring confidence, vibrancy, a heightened awareness, increased concentration and courage.
