Sun

The Sun represents abundance, life, healing, and warmth. Released from a box by the Raven, the Sun Chief inhabits the sky and could only be reached by climbing a chain of arrows. The Sun is often carved on totems and masks and sits atop the tallest totem pole.

Travis Henry

Nation: Coast Salish Travis Henry was born in 1967 in Cowichan, British Columbia on Vancouver Island. As a member of the Cowichan Nation Coast Salish people, his work reflects the Kwakwaka’wakw style. Travis’ family crest is the Sun. He was trained by the Seaweed family, who are well known and respected carvers from Alert Bay on Cormorant Island. His gold and sterling silver carved jewelry can be found in collections in Japan, the United States, Europe, Australia, and his native Canada. Travis currently lives in Langford, British Columbia with his young growing family.
