Sea Sculpin
The Sculpine is a type of spiney fish found in local waters off the BC coast. It is a common family crest found in many West Coast Nations. The Sculpine is strongly connected to Komokwa the Undersea King; he plays the role of a spirit helper. It is also associated with copper and treasure, prestige and wealth. Impressive Sea Sculpin headdresses frequently crown the figures of powerful individuals, and it is often represented in winter dance ceremonies.
