Lapis Lazuli

A stone of protection. It has been used by humankind as early as 4000 BC; sought after in ancient times to be used in decorations, powdered dye and medical elixirs. Ancient peoples thought lapis would provide protection from the evil eye and to counteract dark spirits. It was lapis which was mixed in paint to create the rich ultramarine blue found in Michelangelo’s paintings and even Catherine the Great had a whole room adorned by lapis lazuli. In addition to protection, it encourages wisdom and good judgment, a stone of truth and knowledge it is good for those seeking intellectual development.
