Gemstone: Hematite

The mineral form of Iron Oxide. Due to its iron content it can have a reddish tone, especially when ground up and mixed with water. It was used by ancient Greeks as a red pigment, and was named “haima”, which is Latin meaning blood.

Hematite is considered a strong grounding stone and offers protection to the wearer, imbuing strength, endurance, courage and vitality. Hematite is strongly tied to the earth; it helps to absorb negative energies holding you back and aids in developing logical thinking and organization.
