As a member of the four tribes of Kingcome Inlet, Rick Johnson was born and raised on Gilford Island, B.C. His great grandfather Hubert Johnson was from Wakemen Sound (one the four tribes).
Rick Johnson studied the art of gold and silver carving under the tutelage of Chief Frank Nelson and Paddy Seaweed. Although he is relatively a young artist, Rick Johnson’s exceptional talents are evident in his creations. He continues with his art inspired by grandfather Sam Johnson and the late Jack James.
